Organic Essential Oils Review

I like LorAnn Oils and Mountain Rose Herbs Company you will find their prices a bit more expensive Oils but that is because they are 100% Pure Therapeutic Grade. The essential oils they stock are obtained by steam distillation of the plant’s volatile oils. And their oils are derived from the first distillation--never the second, third or fourth! The only exception to this rule is their Lavender 40/42, which is a blend of many different lavenders; and absolutes, which are extracted by alcohol. These oils may not suitable for therapeutic aromatherapy, however they are deliciously intoxicating as a fragrance or perfume.
Both places sell from small quantities to large. Prices at LorAnn are less but, Mountain Rose Herbs has a much larger selection of hard to find oils.
What Makes a Pure Therapeutic Grade Oil?
No Additives
The primary components of 98 percent of all essential oils in the market are synthetic. They should not be used for therapeutic applications, and they potentially carry risks. Only pure essential oils should be used for therapeutic purposes. At best, synthetic oils may not produce desired therapeutic results--at worst, they could possibly be toxic.
Both LorAn Oils and Mountain Rose Herbs essential oils are 100% pure, natural plant oils. They are free of added water, alcohol, carriers or other diluents. No chemical solvents are added during distillation, and nothing is added to the oil after distillation. A very large selection of oils offered through Mountain Rose Herbs are certified organic through Oregon Tilth Certified Organic. Although organic certification is an intensely painstaking process that a few of their suppliers are still striving to attain, any oils they stock that are not yet certified organic are guaranteed to be free of pesticide and chemical residues.

.Majestic Mountain Sage (http://www.the-sage.com/). I swear they have every single essential oil you can imagine, plus they have other scents too (not essential oils, but blends of other scents to use in soapmaking and candlemaking). Their prices and shipping are very reasonable, compared to what I've found locally.
I started using them because our local suppliers here didn’t have the selection or the "purity" that I was looking for. I wanted a very clean smelling orange oil and all the ones I found here had a funny smell to them - almost dirty or ashy. I called Majestic Mountain Sage and asked a few questions about my expectations and the lady that answered was very helpful and even explained some basics about essential oils that I hadn’t known. They even sell samples, so if you aren't sure exactly how something will smell, you can get a little sample for a very reasonable price (I think around $2.00).
So, for me, the best place for me to get my essential oils is MMS.

You should be able to find essential oils at a health food store or natural medicine store, if you have one in your town.
If you don't, you can try one of these online suppliers:
Liberty Natural Products
Aura Cacia
Mountain Rose Herbs
I usually purchase from Liberty Natural; they're the cheapest, and generally have very high quality. The only time I've purchased something from them and was disappointed was when I got a bottle of Jasmine absolute. It's a really expensive oil (no matter where you buy it), and so I picked one of the cheaper versions, and when I got it and smelled it, you could still smell the solvent on top of the oil. But as far as oils obtained by distillation or expression, I've never had a problem and they've got excellent prices.
I've used Aura Cacia oils before as well, although I've never purchased them online. I used to live near an eclectic little natural health/herb store that carried this line, and I was never displeased with a purchase. An advantage to Aura Cacia oils over the Liberty Natural ones is that Aura Cacia puts a dropper in their bottles, where LNP keeps the neck open.
I included Mountain Rose on my list because although I've never bought essential oils from them, I have purchased herbs and herbal teas (if you decide to order here, get some of their Dream Tea - it's outstanding!) and it's a great little company that obviously cares a lot about providing good customer service and selling high quality products. They've given me no reason to doubt that their essential oils would be just as high a quality as their herbs and teas.

Young Living Essential Oils
Essential Oils Desk Reference (3rd Edition)
He makes a point of trying to 'brainwash' the reader into believing that Young Living essential oils are far superior to products available elsewhere. The TRUTH is that most reputable companies provide a Certificate of Analysis, and a Material Safety Data Sheet for their essential oils- and often will supply a Gas Chromatography analysis for many of the oils they sell as well. These tests are done on an essential oil to ensure they are therapuetic grade, high quality essential oils.
Do some research, then go check the essential oil prices at his site and compare them with prices from other companies. You just might save some money. There are PLENTY of great companies out there to buy essential oils from, and most of them sell their products at FAIR prices. It doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out that there needs to be a HUGE markup on MLM products to support the people up the line from the distributor you buy from.
