A Thousand Words Movie Review
This movie can penetrate deep into your soul and touch all of its strings. "A Thousand Words" Movie is about us, our life and " modern rush" where we cannot feel ourselves and find the harmony with our internal world ( find peace with ourselves).
However it is easy to find all of the answers. They are within you. You just have to understand it and accept life as an important gift with all its tragedies and comedies that go through us.
Also the movie looks externally as a comedy , it reflects the personal tragedy of a particular human being. The main character is externally "successful" but can not attain internal peace with himself.
Eddie Murphy is funny, fast talker but at the same time he is so lonely with his own childish problem : internal wound connected with his father who left the family - he could not forgive him for doing that... During the business meeting where he thought he could make big money , he found wisdom, love, tranquility and harmony. The path to it was not an easy one. First he had to lose career, contacts, friends and his wife and his child ...and "all of the leaves from his life tree". This is what it took for him to understand the true life values and priorities.
In contrast to the main character of the movie we have a chance not to lose all of the "leaves on our life tree" and do everything so the tree would bloom and give bountiful fruits of happiness, joy, kindness and love.
Every human being can write the story of his/her own life. It all depends on us - how many pages the book will have, which genre and how successful will it be. That is what the wise spiritual teacher in the movie was trying to convey. He knows a lot. He has an experience of life and that is why everything what he wanted to say fit in the book of five pages. This was done in order to awaken person's abilities, in order for one to be brave enough to choose his/her own path, without fears and exercising free thinking.
If you would have 3 last words to speak before your death what would you say ? " I forgive you " - that is what the main character of the movie was able to say and after this he started the new life - full of joy, harmony, peace and tranquility in his soul. Forgiveness... When we look deep inside our fears and observe them they simply disappear like the fog with the morning sun. We free ourselves from extra unnecessary mental "weight" that prevents us from being truly happy as we really deserve.
Nowadays we waste our precious time on empty talk and forget the true values of our life. What if you can embrace that every spoken word is like a gold or a matter of life and death... What is next ? That is the question that was posed to the main character of the movie. Only when one is silent, one can hear his/her own internal voice that knows what happiness is and where to find answers for all the questions.
What comes into your mouth is as important is what comes out of it.
So, why our words are so important? Time is of essence here. At times we live in eternity and we think that we have plenty of time. The clock is ticking though and with every day we are closer to death.
As the saying goes - be mindful what you put into your mouth (nourish your body with vitamins and nutrients not with artificial ingredients in our foods). Yes, next time when you buy something, start learning your ingredients. What does the Blue Lake # 40, Yellow #2, Red #5 mean? Coal tar and petrochemicals are the sources of the artificial colors that go into our foods, and these artificial coloring ingredients are dangerous to our health. The human body was not designed to eat petrochemicals…
The same way one should observe his/her own words. After all the word can be a healer or a killer: we are the decision makers and we make that choice. A word can become a ticking bomb and may cause an emotional explosion in a human being. The words do kill. At times a good word spoken to someone can change their entire perception of life.
Just remember that if this would be your last words that you would manifest on this planet, what they would be? Watch the intonation. What you would say to the loved ones if this would be the last time you see them?
After all, you never know when is it will be over…do you? Every word should be a healing word: it is like polishing the world around you making it a better place. It is an important work. Think if majority of us would be mindful here, how different things could be?
