Fasting is a complex process in the billions of cells, purifying the whole body and elevating of the human as a spiritual being.

1. Preparation
I suggest that anyone who is going to fast should practice at least 7 days of raw food diet prior to fasting. You may want to read my 7 Day Raw Food Diary Detox if did not do so. Plenty of vegetables and fruits should serve you well in preparation. Try to stay away from meat and any cooked foods. If you read The Biggest Lie Ever than you know why :)

If you are above 40 years old, it would be sound idea to double the amount of preparation period (ideally 30 days) since your body has more toxins and the “withdrawal” period could be more painful. 2. Solitude
While it is preferred to fast in isolation it could be possible that you have to interact with outside environment. Ideally fasting should be done in natural setting (for instance while camping). I have done it while working and it was not so bad.
Try to keep it private and if you do tell other people about it, make sure that you surround yourself with positive energies. Remarks like “You will die! You need to eat!” will not help you at all.

3. Exercises.
It is important to have plenty of exercises since you have to assist the body in detoxing. Working out helped me to ease the feeling of hunger. Running in the park worked very well in my case. Plenty of fresh air is important.
Stay away from exercising in the gym since the air is recycled there. Your body needs deep breathing with regular fresh air intake. The park is ideal place for it.

4. Sunshine.
Plenty of sunshine is a must. I have noticed that while fasting I would get cravings for sunlight. So, make sure you spend some time on the open sun. It will boost your energy level and calm you down.
Overall, researches are stating that sunlight is crucial to our health. At least 30 minutes a day is a must for a person to be spend in sunlight.

5. Practice meditation.
Mediation is a good tool that can greatly assist you in fasting. I would do it in the morning and at night, right before bed. I would close the eyes and listen to the music. Simple 5 minute session would fill my day with tranquility and joy.
6. Shower, Bath and Sonar.
Since fasting is accompanied with extensive detoxification we need to help the body to get rid of unnecessary substances. Generally, I would take a shower 2-3 times a day depending on the itching.

Drinking plenty of water is important. I used diluted orange juice in my fasting as well. Water will cleanse your body and push the waste out of your system. Recording your feelings could be beneficial for you to go back and see the state of mind during fasting. I was reading my diary just another day and decided to do fasting again. I forgot already the way I felt and definitely want to come back to that state of mind.

9. Use Your Time Wisely
While fasting you will discover new energies that are flowing through you body. This will happen on the fourth or fifth day. Use your time wisely and devote it to solving the problem that you could not cope with for awhile.

If you fasted before than you are aware that Fasting is not only physical work of your body but also with your psyche and spirituality. You become less connected with the everyday material world. Your consciousness switches to the "ideal mode". So, this is crucial time for you to work on your inner self.
